Tom LeightonThe sun is back again, just in time for the August Bank Holiday and something is afoot in Camberwell!There are rumours that Frank’s Bar (they of the Peckham car park and ridiculous queue fame) and the Anchor and Hope on The Cut are taking over the now departed Recreation Ground.  Finger’s crossed it’s as successful as these places are.

Now. It’s also confession time. I didn’t run At Home in July. It was so hot that people cancelled on me at the last minute, and a lot of people were away. So this means that this month’s menu is almost the same as the one I was going to do in July. I spent quite a lot of time getting it right so seems a waste to not use it! The menu this month is inspired by some of my more random travels and loves. So Bourbon from Kentucky, a fantastic Finnish soup that is a summery version of Cullen Skink and Florentines, which I fell in love with when I tried them from a shop in northern Spain.

As mentioned before, there are a few changes in how we will present the food. Because of licensing rules, we absolutely have to be out of House by 11pm. To make this a bit easier, I’ll be serving each course in big dishes for each table from now on and you can serve yourselves. We’ve tried this before and people seem to like it. It’s a bit quicker, and more sociable! There will also be one less course, but slightly bigger portions all round, and a cocktail to start. Hopefully everyone’s a winner!
